Slack, connected to the rest of your company.
Slack holds a piece of your business; the manual work lives in the gaps around it. We build the automations that close those gaps, against your existing account, with a person signing off on anything that matters.
What Slack is
Slack is a team messaging application: conversations happen in channels, direct messages and threads, with files and notices from other tools posted alongside. Companies use it for day-to-day coordination in place of internal email. Slack rarely holds the business records themselves; it holds the discussion about them, which makes it a natural place for alerts, summaries and approvals.
What an automation reads and writes there
- Messages and threads in channels
- Files shared in a conversation
- Channels and their members
- Button clicks and reactions used as approvals
- User profiles for addressing the right person
Work that gets built around Slack
Monday brief posted to a channel
Over the weekend, sales, the bank balance and site analytics are collected from the systems that hold them. On Monday the one-page brief is posted to the owners' channel in Slack, with the figures in the message and the sources linked. Catalogue price: $490 for setup and $79 per month for care.
Built as: The Monday briefQuote approved from a Slack message
A request for a price arrives by mail or form. A draft quote built from your price list is posted to a sales channel with approve and reject buttons. When the named approver clicks approve, the quote goes to the customer, and the follow-up three days later is reported in the same thread.
Built as: Quote deskUnanswered mail handed to a person
The shared inbox is read and sorted. Messages with a known answer are answered; the rest are posted to a Slack channel with a summary and a suggested reply. Whoever takes the message edits or accepts the draft, and the thread shows who handled it and when.

Before you automate against it
Slack is not a system of record, so a decision made there has to be written back to the system that owns the record. A Slack app is installed by someone with that right, in some workspaces only after an administrator approves it, and it sees only the channels it has been added to.
The controls
- How we connect Through Slack's own interfaces - API where it exists, structured exports and the mailbox where it does not. Nothing installed inside your Slack account behind your back.
- What usually gets built Data leaving Slack into invoices, CRM records and reports; data arriving into Slack from orders, forms and mail - the retyping in both directions is the work that disappears.
- The controls A written spec, a full run record, an approval queue for consequential steps, and a signed proof afterwards. The same four controls every OAKMONT automation runs with.
Common questions
- Can a step be approved directly in Slack?Yes. Slack's public API lets an app post a message with buttons and receive the click together with the identity of the person who clicked. The approval is then recorded with the name and time, and the step continues. Who is allowed to approve is defined in advance, not left to whoever sees the message first.
- Will the automation read all our Slack conversations? No. A Slack app has only the permissions listed when it is installed, and it reads a channel only if it has been added to that channel. The flows described here mostly post messages and receive button clicks, so permission to read message history can usually be left out entirely.
- Can OAKMONT automate Slack?Yes - Slack is on the creator's systems list, and automations are built against your existing account through its own interfaces. Describe the workflow and a person replies with a fixed quote.
- What does a Slack automation cost?Catalogue prices start at $490 for a single delivered workflow, with care from $79/month. The fixed price for your case is confirmed by a person in writing before any work starts.
- Is our Slack data safe?Every automation runs with a written spec and a full run record, consequential steps wait for human approval, and for work that must never leave your building there is the Private AI Box - the whole stack on your own hardware.
