Before you automate against it
Files in a person's My Drive belong to that person, while files in a shared drive belong to the organisation. An automation should read and file in shared drives, otherwise a folder disappears with a departing employee's account. Access comes from a consent screen, or from an administrator granting a service account limited scopes.

- Can a Google Sheet be the data source for an automation?Yes, Sheets can be read and written through Google's public API. The weak point is that a sheet has no fixed structure: a renamed column or a row inserted above the header changes what the automation finds. Agree one tab with a fixed header row, and protect that row from edits.
- Does the automation need my Google password?No. Access is given through Google's consent screen, which lists what may be read or changed, for example mail or files in Drive. You can withdraw it in the account's security settings, and a Workspace administrator can see and remove the access of outside applications for the whole organisation in the Admin console.
